Motor City Pagans Mayfest Guest Information
Is this a green event?
Yes! We at the Michigan Mayfest take our responsibility to the environment very seriously.
We have chosen a domain server that runs entirely on wind power.
We manage most of our correspondence online, minimizing paper waste.
Our tickets are printed on 100% recycled paper.
During and after the event on April 24th, we will have teams in place to collect recyclable materials and take them to a recycling center.
We are only inviting performers and educators from Michigan and its surrounding areas, which saves fuel as well as travel costs for everyone.
Safety FAQ
The Michigan Mayfest committee is concerned about the safety and enjoyment of our guests. While purchasing a ticket implies that you agree to hold us harmless in the case of any accidental injury or theft, we have a number of safety checks in place to make sure this doesn't happen.
What arrangements has the Michigan Mayfest taken to insure my family's safety while attending this event?
All of our volunteers undergo a background check. Anyone who has a violent or invasive charge on their record in the past 10 years may not volunteer during the event (though they may help with planning and preparation ahead of time with the unanimous agreement of the rest of the members of the committee). Volunteers who are working with children must have children of their own or have worked with children professionally and must have a record clear of any violent or child-related charge for their lifetime. (Please note that we consider rape and molestation to be acts of violence).
We have a security team consisting of security professionals and first responders. They will be stationed inside the vending area, around the festival area, in the parking lot and in the ticketing area. We will also have a private security and first aid area where you can go in case of emergency and be tended to by our security and first aid team in comfort and privacy.
In addition to this, our event is fully insured, no alcohol or drugs are allowed on the grounds and no weapons, including blades, are permitted on the grounds.
What steps has Mayfest taken to protect the safety of our children?
The Michigan Mayfest staff loves children and urges their parents to take full responsibility for them at the festival. We do not permit children to be left without parental supervision in any area of the festival including the childrens area. We do understand, however, that children occasionally wander off. Your child will be provided with a wristband onto which we will write the cellphone number of an attending parent. We will also make a list of every child under 12 who enters the event and their attending parent. If your child is found, security will call you and deliver the child to the childrens' area to pick him or her up. You will need to show ID, which will be checked against The List in order to retrieve her.
What do I do if I get hurt?
When you first arrive at Mayfest on the morning of April 24th, you will be given a program with a map detailing important areas of the grounds. Please take note of where our security and first aid tent is. If you are hurt, go immediately to the first aid tent where a first responder will address your immediate concerns and take appropriate action to get you emergency care.
If you cannot move or it hurts to move, stay where you are. If there is anyone nearby tell them to call an ambulance and notify the security staff. We will have staff patrolling the entire grounds on a regular basis so someone will certainly find you shortly.
What do I do if I am robbed?
With security teams patrolling regularly indoors and out we hope to deter any thefts before they happen. If you discover that an item has been stolen from you, please report the theft to the security team immediately. They will assist you in notifying the authorities and making a police report.
What do I do if I find someone's lost item?
If you find an item that does not belong to you, please bring it to the security station or the hospitality area from whence it will be delivered to the security station.
What do I do if I lost something?
If you have lost an item please report it to the security station or the hospitality area. We will do our best to help you recover it.
